Join us for a casual Near Southside, Inc. Happy Hour on September 19 at Amphibian Stage - honoring Artistic Director and founder of Amphibian, Kathleen Culebro.
Kathleen is a pioneer in many ways - not only by creating out-of-the-box productions for more than 20 years, by using theater as a therapeutic tool for veterans and children, being steadfastly dedicated to raising the voices of marginalized artists and actors, and by kicking off a massive renaissance of the South Main Village by planting roots at 120 S. Main Street back in 2012!
This month's happy hour will be an extra special opportunity to raise our glasses to Kathleen's incredible community legacy as she steps away from Amphibian Stage for 25 years as its founding director. Plus, all drink purchases directly benefit Amphibian Stage! NSI Happy Hour is an opportunity to hang with Near Southside business owners, build connections in our community, and hear news from the neighborhood!
We'll be sharing some brief welcomes at 5:00 p.m. from the Near Southside team with toast to Kathleen at 5:15pm. Then at 5:30pm we'll head out to see all of the local art being highlighted at the participating Third Thursday venues!
In case you aren't familiar, Third Thursday is a monthly art walk in South Main Village with businesses displaying artwork from local artists from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. every month from March to September. We look forward to enjoying Third Thursday with you!
ABOUT AMPHIBIAN STAGE
Amphibian Stage is a professional nonprofit theater located right at the entrance to the Near Southside. They are celebrating our 25th season this year. In 2012, Amphibian was one of the first businesses to move into the Near Southside's South Main Village. Amphibian has set the stage not only for their success as a landmark theater but also for the entire community that has been built around them. Come enjoy a specialty cocktail, see their space, meet with actors and the director from the current production that is rehearsing, and give your well wishes to Kathleen!
DON'T MISS THIS SPECIAL FEATURE: special video showing and exciting announcements from Phib staff about an upcoming production! Amphibian will provide drink specials and non-alcoholic offerings.
'The Kalimotxo' and 'The High Note' (bringing back the Elderflower spritz from Marie and Rosetta!) Both will be offered at $9. All wine, beer, and soft drinks will be available at a Happy Hour discount. $7, $5, and $3 respectively. Free street parking is available on street throughout South Main Village. For more convenient parking, the lot adjacent to the theater is a pair lot and available for a small fee which also benefits Amphibian Stage. Instructions for payment can be found on the lot signs.
ABOUT THIRD THURSDAY!
Once a month the awesome business owners of South Main Village create a free walkable gallery night supporting local artists and showcasing their businesses community spirit. Third Thursday occurs on...wait for it...the Third Thursday of every month from March to September, 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Many businesses stay open late on this day, offer specials, and open their doors for you to view original work from local artists on display and also for sale.
This month's Third Thursday isn't guided, however, Megan will be departing Amphibian Stage at 5:30pm with plans to visit all of the following Third Thursday hosts! Follow Third Thursday to find all of the details.

For more than 25 years we have been leading initiatives to restore, reinvent and renew the Near Southside district and community. More than 300 companies and passionate individuals from across North Texas are members of Near Sou thside, Inc, ranging from our largest economic anchors and institutions to small entrepreneurial start-ups, non-profits, and individuals who join as members to support our mission.
