Richmond Cooperative Extension Program is hosting a 4-hour elective course on the NC Radon testing requirements for real estate brokers.
About this Event

The North Carolina Real Estate Commission regards the level of 4 pCi/L or more to be a material fact. The NC REC requires that licensed real estate brokers representing buyers or sellers share knowledge of an indoor radon test level of being equal to or greater than 4 or more pico Curies per liter (4 pCi/L).

This course is meant to empower licensed real estate brokers with information and materials that will assist them in explaining to their clients why testing for radon is important, best practices for radon testing, and strategies for lowering radon levels.

All building types in all areas of North Carolina have the potential for elevated radon levels. This course will, therefore, address testing and mitigation strategies for single-family homes, multi-family homes, and large buildings.

This course will be taught by the NC Department of Health and Human Services Radon Program Coordinator Phillip Gibson. The NC Radon Program is certified by the NC Real Estate Commission as an educator. In addition to serving as the NC Radon Program Coordinator, Phillip is also licensed by the North Carolina Real Estate Commission as a real estate broker-in-charge and certified as an instructor for this approved elective. This course has been offered for over 3 years with hundreds of real estate brokers completing this approved 4-hour elective.
