Town & Gown Players presents Navigators. Written and directed by Asia Meana, Navigators is an adaptation of a short story by Mike Meginnis. The show tells the story of a trying period in the life of 10-year-old Mykah and her father, Dustin. Their mother and wife, respectively, has left. To keep themselves occupied, Mykah and Dustin are playing a game called Legend of Silence. The game is unlike most other games they’ve played in that the heroine, Alicia, diminishes rather than grows in power as the game progresses. Asia Meana is a PhD student in Theatre and Performance Studies at UGA. She cut her teeth at Town & Gown and is happy to be back after a five-year hiatus.
The cast includes Town & Gown veteran Chelsea Toledo and her daughter, Evie, as well as two performers from Atlanta, Jared Rogers-Martin and Sarah Wildman.
Navigators features animation by Adam Mizell (yah_dang), choreography by Sarah Wildman, and an original score by Scott Hawkins. It also includes two interactive media components developed under the supervision of Dr. David Saltz.
