About this Event
The Black Student Union from Innovation High School is excited to host their annual gala event "Navigating a World Not Made for Me". At the event, attendees can expect to hear from three different guest speakers (Lisa Gardner, Amir Gilmore, Marissa Hart), discussing how they have been able to navigate life as a POC and how it has inspired the work they are currently doing. Guests can also look forward to several live performances, a local step team comprised of students from NC and Cheney High school will be performing an orginal choreographed dance routine and the music program from Innovation will additionally be performing six different covers of songs from black artists. Art pieces created by students from Innovation's advanced art program will be showcased availble for our silent auction. An intermission will additionally be included in the event where dinner will be served, attendees can visit tabling booths (Sandy Williams Justice Center, NAACP) network and connect with other guests and view/bid on artwork.
