Geraldine Box, Sue Hibbert, Sue Liddicoat, Jenny Silburn, and Sven Silburn are five artists fascinated by the natural origins of their chosen media: pigments in watercolours, mixed media, and gemstones and precious metals. They explore the use of precious and semi-precious stones and organic materials in colour pigments and gem settings.This exhibition brings into focus their relationship with the natural environment. A number of the works draw from the artists’ many plein air expeditions, while also offering the opportunity to incorporate a diversity of media.
The alchemical magic of precious and semi-precious stones has held a deep fascination for both jewellery creatives. Working with metal and colourful gemstones and the process of transforming an idea into beautiful creations is enhanced by knowing the lasting pleasure they bring to the wearer.
The Zig Zag Gallery is open from 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday, and from 10am to 4pm on weekends and public holidays.
