About this Event
Winter Tree Identification, Mythology and Folklore
Join Dave Winnard - Discover the Wild (ABOUT | Discover the Wild) for a two hour nature walk around Haigh to learn about the amazing tree of Haigh and explore their secrets.
Haigh is home to some wonderful trees of many species, whilst winter may not seem the right time of year to look at them, you would be surprised at how easy it is to identify the different species when their leaves have dropped. We will be looking at buds and bark as well as delving into the various stories these trees have to tell. Which tree keeps the devil away? Which tree deters Witches? and how old can Yew trees live for? All will be discussed on this walk. Expect to leave with a greater understanding of these big plants which dominate our surroundings.
Please arrive at the Visitors Centre for a 10am prompt start.
Drinks and food are available to purchase before / after the walk.
Car parking charges apply - £3.50 for over 90 minutes.
