Art and sustainability workshop for building relationships with nature, ourselves, and othersAbout this Event
How can we nurture our relationship with nature despite cold weather, urban landscapes, and busy schedules? The purpose of this event is to provide an opportunity to build and enhance meaningful connections with nature, yourself, and others through creative exploration.
Join us for a relaxing, hands-on art workshop where creativity meets sustainability. Participants will create their own canvas artwork using paint and colorful recycled plastic pieces, with at least one part of the design made from plastic.Paint your version of paradise, nature, or anything your imagination brings to life. We will share fun prompts and art ideas to inspire you, but there are no rules. Just create freely. You will leave with your finished artwork to take home and display or decorate your space 🎨🌿
What to expect:
During the event, you will be guided by arts & crafts and sustainability facilitators @Reimagining Plastic to create a simple multimedia art project. Some prompts and guidance will be provided, and we encourage everyone to “look within” to explore our imaginative capacity to connect with nature. This activity will be suitable for beginners (there is no need to have artistic experience): we will be making art for enjoyment and creative exploration!
How to find the group:
Please arrive at the Centre for Social Innovation Spadina Atrium (main floor) approximately 10 to 15 minutes before the class begins to check in and get settled.
How to sign up:
This will be a small group event, please RSVP. If you can no longer make it, please edit your RSVP so your spot can be released to another participant.
What to wear or bring:
To wear: Comfortable clothes for arts and crafts (note: paint may leave permanent residue, so please cover up / wear clothes you are not concerned about).
To bring: Anything you need to feel comfortable (e.g., reusable water bottle, a small snack). Arts and crafts supplies will be provided, and you are welcome to bring your own but this is not required.
