Nature Mold-Making with Silicone by Vincent Miranda
About this Event
Learn a unique approach to mold-making elements with nature using silicone materials. Vincent Miranda is the current resident artist at The Storefront, Main Library.
Vincent Miranda will lead a mold-making workshop as part of his residency at The Storefront.
Attendees are asked to bring a small item from nature (i.e., flower, leaf, foliage) that they would like to capture in a silicone mold and cast into a resin object. Approximate class time will be 90 minutes. Guests will take home a reproduction of their favorite piece of nature.
The Storefront is a contemporary art space that binds libraries with arts and culture from Broward County. Resident artists are pre-selected and invited to connect with library stakeholders while creating new works and curating public programs during their residency. Vincent Miranda is joining us as resident artist for May and June 2026.
(b. 1991) Vincent Miranda is an artist from Broward County, Florida. Using sculptural objects in silicone and glass, his work depicts a lived experience as it intersects with Southern Hip-Hop, Masculinity, and Nature— unpacking how these entities shape Southern identity for young men-of-color. Miranda received his MFA from California College of the Arts, and was a 2023 recipient of the South Florida Cultural Consortium Grant.
