Our Nature Lovers singles events have been so popular that we've decided to offer an outing exclusively for singles in the LGBTQ+ community! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ Join us for a queer nature birding outing at Lake Farm County Park on Friday, August 14 from 6:30-8:30pm. No birding experience required!
Our goal with this event is to put you in proximity with other queer single people in the 30s and 40s age range who love nature and the outdoors. We are not promising that you'll find the love of your life, but you might make a new friend, find a new hobby, and go home with more queer nature facts that you know what to do with! Or y'know, you might find the love of your life. 🤷♀️ You won't know unless you join us.
Who is this event for?
- Queer single people in their 30s and 40s.
- Queer single people open to making a romantic connection or building friendships with other single people
- Nature lovers! If you don't enjoy the outdoors, this may not be your crowd
- Progressive-minded, welcoming, kind individuals committed to keeping this event a safe space. No conservatives. (If you are annoyed by that exclusion, then this is not the event for you.)
- The only attendee that will not be queer is one of the event facilitators - just FYI!
Why are we doing this?
- We think you should get off the apps and get outside
- We'd like to take the pressure off meeting new people by participating in a fun, low-key activity together (birding) that also allows plenty of time for light socializing
- You'll be able to meet people in your age range (30s and 40s) who are also part of the LGBTQ+ community that you know are single and open to new connections (dating or friendship)
- Even if you don't like the company (unlikely), we guarantee you'll love the birds and learn some really fascinating facts about queer nature
How does it work?
- To keep this a manageable size and foster connections, we will cap attendance at 16 people. When you sign up, you'll share a few details about yourself.
- When you arrive, you'll design a nametag that is color-coded based on the type of person you are looking for (i.e. men, women, friends only, etc.). Once everyone is present, we'll do a round of introductions.
- Everyone will be given a bingo card. On one side will be some birds we're likely to see, on the other side will be the first names of your fellow attendees. Your task will be to mark off any birds we see AND any names of people that you have 1:1 conversations with while we're out birding. If you get a bingo (or heck, maybe a blackout?!) you'll get a little prize at the end.
- We will stop frequently to identify and point out birds or talk about queer nature. If you've never birded before, that's okay! Our leaders are experienced birders and will have lots of fun birding tips to share. We'll even have binoculars for you.
- At the end of the outing, we'll have you submit a brief form to indicate if there were any attendees you'd like to see again (for friends or dating). We'll introduce any "mutual matches" over email post-event. This means there's no pressure to share your contact info with anyone if you don't want to.
