Wintertime exposes the many rocky areas along the Susquehanna River. Nature journaling is a great way to observe and connect with these features by drawing, describing, and asking questions. We will introduce a variety of techniques and tools including shading, line, diagram, and value scale to showcase shape, details, and planes in the rock formations.
Registration required at Eventbrite ticketing link above.
What to Expect: This event will be held entirely outdoors and on portions of the Enola Low Grade trail. A short walk will be taken to a large rocky area. There will be time for instruction, demonstration, and actively working on journals. There are port-a-johns on site. This event is recommended for ages 16 and up (participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult).
What to Bring: Bring a journal as well as your choice of implements: watercolors and brushes, writing tools (pen/pencil/marker), or colored pencils; a fine tip black pen is recommended. A phone can be a helpful tool for reference pictures. Dress appropriately for the weather, layers are recommended. Bring a drink and a snack. You may also consider bringing a portable chair for comfort.
