Nature Journaling @ Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve

Hi everyone! I will be leading an early morning nature journaling session at Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve this Sunday 11/24 from 7:30am to 10:30am! We will meet at the parking lot at 7:30 am and head into the reserve from there. The trails of the reserve are mild, with parts unpaved and others on a flat wooden bridge. We will be surrounded by saltwater marsh and hopefully lots of shorebirds and other water birds too!

We will begin with an introduction to nature journaling, followed by a 20-minute ’sit-spot' exercise, then spend the rest of the morning free-journaling.

Nature journaling can include sketching and notes, but it can also be personal reflections, writing, poetry, questions, diagrams, or anything that channels your feelings about the nature that you are observing. Everyone is encouraged to join! And binoculars & art supplies are provided but please feel free to bring your own as well!

Bring your own stool, sit pad, or chair if you want comfortable seating but there should be a good amount of benches scattered around the trails! And it will be cold early in the morning so bring plenty of layers!

There is free but very limited parking at the reserve — 18000 Pacific Coast Hwy — so please arrive on time to snatch a spot! The entrance to the reserve is in that small parking lot.
