Nature After Dark: a Guided Night Walk with Authors and “Wild” Ideas
Schedule
Wed Oct 15 2025 at 06:30 pm to 08:30 pm
UTC-04:00Location
Kathleen Clay Edwards Family Branch Library, 1420 Price Park Rd., Greensboro | Greensboro, NC
The evening begins with a conversation from 6:30 - 7:30 pm between Henion and Laura Carney, author of "My Father’s List" and this year’s One City, One Book selection. Exploration of one’s self and the world is a theme in "My Father’s List". Together, they’ll discuss the power of wonder in personal transformation, and the deep connections between storytelling and environmental awareness. This is a unique opportunity to hear from two writers whose work encourages an appreciation for the natural world and our place within it.
After the talk, take part in a guided twilight walk through the woods surrounding the Kathleen Clay Edwards Family Branch. This 7:30 - 8:30 pm stroll allows attendees to experience the themes of "Night Magic" firsthand—observing the natural world as it transitions into night, when subtle marvels often go unnoticed. Whether you're an avid environmentalist or a curious wanderer, this event offers inspiration to see nature through a lens of renewed awe and wonder.
