The CROWN Act champions the fundamental rights of Americans to embrace their natural hair, ensuring the freedom to adorn styles such as braids, locs, twists, and knots without fear of prejudice in both workplace settings and public schools. Situated in the nexus of progress, the District of Columbia stands alongside neighboring states Maryland and Virginia, all of which have embraced the principles of the CROWN Act into law. Moreover, an extensive roster of states including Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington have all affirmed their commitment to equality by enacting the CROWN Act.
