Natural Dye Workshop

Participants will forage plants and flowers from Ellume Garden to naturally tie dye cotton bandanas. Each participant will leave with a 22 x 22 inch bandana. We will also have other natural fiber fabrics to experiment with.

Regeneratively grown organic herbal teas grown in Ellume Garden will be served throughout the workshop

Copycats is an ongoing DIY project by Los Angeles based fashion designer Erika Maish. Copycats seeks to explore the boundaries between designer and maker, questioning the relationship of luxury, labor, value and reproduction. Ultimately the project aims to foster deeper appreciation for the processes behind clothing production. Maish received an MA in Fashion Design (2019) and BA in Textile Design (2016) both from Central Saint Martins. Her work has been featured in publications including the LA Times, Cultured, AnOther, Dazed, i-D, various editions of Vogue; worn by Parker Posey, Tom Daley, Kali Uchis, The Marias, Maude Apatow, Olivia Dean, Conan Gray, Olivia Rodrigo, Remi Wolf, Kylie Jenner and Gigi Hadid to name a few.

Ellume Garden is nurtured by owner and steward Jade Luu, a permaculture designer & California native plants landscape gardener. The garden was designed and grown according to permaculture and regenerative principles, avoiding the use of any synthetic or chemical fertilizers or amendments with a heavy emphasis on perennial and California native species planting and mulching to mimic a natural forest floor. Ellume Garden offers creative and immersive experiences for all to restore and connect within, with one another, and with Nature. Luu has previously worked for Dr Jane Goodall along with consulting for botanical gardens and running her own skincare brand.
