This program provides an introduction to native plants and explains the critical importance of planting and conserving them in your landscape. Many examples of locally native species will be reviewed as well as natural ways to promote their health and resilience. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Presented by Jean Epiphan, Agriculture & Natural Resources Agent, Assistant Professor, Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Morris County
Jean has a B.S. in Forestry with a concentration in Geomorphology from the University of Vermont and a M.S. in Ecology from Rutgers University. She is a NJ Licensed Tree Expert #692, an ISA Certified Arborist #NJ-1247A, and is certified in wetland delineation, ecological restoration, and wetland construction. Jean has over 20 years of experience in research, assessment, and management of forest ecosystems as well as horticultural and arboricultural landscapes all with a strong emphasis of environmentally sustainable conservation goals. Her interests involve teaching locally native flora, plant identification, habitat restoration in landscape design, and natural heritage reforestation.
