Native Plant Workshop Series - Basics of Plant ID Part 1
About this Event
During these 90-minute sessions, you'll explore plant anatomy, learn to recognize key plant family characteristics, discover helpful identification resources, and even try your hand at mounting herbarium specimens.
Each workshop builds on the previous one, so we recommend registering for the full series—but you're welcome to attend individual sessions as well.
You're also invited to arrive early and volunteer with us! Volunteers who contribute at least two hours will receive three free native plants to take home as our thanks.
To help reinforce what you've learned, we'll also be hosting optional 30–45 minute plant identification walks following our volunteer events on August 8, August 22, and September 5. These guided walks are a great opportunity to apply the concepts from the previous week's workshop in the field.
Come prepared:
Please bring water, sunscreen, and a sun hat. Wearing hiking attire, closed-toe shoes, pants, and long-sleeved shirts is recommended. Water refill stations will be provided.
