About this Event

Join staff from the Marion County Soil and Water Conservation District and Indy Urban Acres for a popup Native Plant Workshop to learn about native plant species and growing natives from seed! The workshop will be held at the newest Indy Urban Acres (IUA) site located at Faith UMC, where IUA has established a 3 acre urban farm to serve the local community. The workshop will highlight several facets of native plants including the following topics:

  • Native plant selection for urban agriculture
  • Native plant selection for rain gardens and backyard habitat creation
  • Growing natives from seed
  • Information on additional upcoming workshops
  • Distribution of native plant resources

The workshop will also include repotting of native plugs onsite by workshop participants in preparation for IUA's Native Plant Sale coming up on 6/1 and 6/2. Upon completion of the workshop, workshop participants will receive IUA giftcards that can be redeemed at their various plant sales this summer (see schedule at www.iuaplantsale.com).

The program is funded with the generous support of a grant from the Indiana State Department of Agriculture's Clean Water Indiana program.
