Day 2: Satuday, September 20 9 -4pm

Join us for one or both days of professional development for Native artists looking to start or grow a career as an artist. Meet and learn from RYAN! Feddersen, Dan Friday, Andrea Wilbur-Sigo, and many others about securing funding, starting and running a business, the world of public art, getting into galleries, and vending at markets.

Lunch provided both days, as well as beading workshops from Cynthia Masterman of Blue Dot Beadwork.

People love to meet and purchase art from the artists and art markets and fairs are a great way for artists to get their work into the public arena. This session focuses on how to apply and what’s needed to be a successful art vendor.

How do I answer all these questions? If you have ever looked into applying for a public art project and thought it was too difficult and choose not to apply, you are not alone. We understand it can be daunting, but the rewards for landing a public art project are many. This two-part session will present both sides of a public art project, Part 1 from the public art manager’s perspective, and the Part 2 from the artist’s perspective. The panel will try to demystify the process and break down the how-to of applying for and landing public art projects.
