About this Event

A key part of the National Undergraduate Neuroanatomy Competition has always been our talks post-exams; as Glasgow University is the hosting institution of NUNC, we would like to extend an open invitation to all staff and students to attend the talks free of charge and support our competitors! We are delighted to welcome some very exciting speakers this year - please see below for more about them:

Mr Henry Marsh

A captivating storyteller, Henry Marsh is a leading British neurosurgeon who speaks candidly about success and failure and what it feels like to slice through the matter that creates thought, dreams and memories.

He read Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Oxford University before studying medicine at the Royal Free Hospital in London. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1984 and was appointed Consultant Neurosurgeon at Atkinson Morley's/St.George's in 1987.

He has been the subject of two major documentary films: Your Life in their Hands (BBC 2003) which won the Royal Television Society Gold Medal and The English Surgeon (2009) which won an Emmy. He was made a CBE by HM the Queen in 2010.

Mr Aswin Chari

Aswin is an academic neurosurgical trainee in London and is completing his PhD at Great Ormond Street Hospital & UCL’s Institute of Child Health.

He has been involved in collaborative research and the British Neurosurgical Trainee Research Collaborative (BNTRC) since 2013, served as the BNTRC Chair in 2016 and is currently the Academic Representative of the British Neurosurgical Trainee Association (BNTA). He was a co-investigator on the BNTRC’s landmark Dex-CSDH trial.
