The University of Utah’s S.J. Quinney College of Law will host the American Bar Association’s (ABA) traveling exhibit, “Native American Voting Rights: A History of Struggle and Triumph,” from Sept. 23 to Oct. 4, 2024, during building open hours.Developed by the ABA’s Standing Committee on the Law Library of Congress, this free educational exhibit explores the historical and ongoing fight for Native American voting rights in the United States. This is the exhibit’s only stop in Utah.
During the exhibit’s appearance at the College of Law, Dean Elizabeth Kronk Warner—a citizen of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, an expert on Native American law, and the first Native dean in the college’s history—will host two public discussion sessions on Native American voting rights. These sessions will provide an opportunity for attendees to share personal experiences and perspectives, and to engage with the history and significance of this vital civil rights issue. Discussion sessions will take place:
- Sept. 26, 2024, from 3 to 4 p.m.
- Oct. 4, 2024, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
