About this Event

Join us at University College Dublin for a full day of learning, collaboration, and knowledge sharing across Ireland’s oncology community. This year’s National Training Day brings together professionals from Haematology, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Surgery, Translational Research, and Allied Health to explore emerging research, develop practical skills, and reflect on the “hidden curriculum” that shapes clinical and academic careers — including mentorship, self-care, career development, and the evolving role of technologies such as AI within cancer trials and clinical practice.

Agenda Highlights

(Based on the current draft agenda)

Trainee Presentations
Twenty trainee-led oral presentations showcasing current projects and research activity across all oncology disciplines.

Learning From Ourselves and Others
Updates from leaders across Allied Health, Haematology, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Surgery, and Translational Research, followed by a multidisciplinary panel discussion.

Poster Exhibition & Networking Opportunities
Dedicated time for coffee, lunch, and poster viewing to encourage collaboration, peer learning, and professional networking.

The Hidden Curriculum
A practical session exploring topics that shape research careers, including mentoring, research barriers, self-care and work–life balance, and the rapidly evolving role of AI in trials and clinical practice.

Closing Remarks & Bursary Prizes
Recognition of outstanding trainee contributions and final reflections on advancing cancer trial activity in Ireland.
