About this Event

Orchestras for All (OFA) is delighted to announce that National Orchestra for All (NOFA) will be performing a powerful end-of-season concert this summer – and we would love for you to join us!

Titled ‘Sounds of Change’, the musical extravaganza is due to take place at the CBSO Centre in Birmingham on Thursday 1st August 2024 from 3-5pm and will celebrate all that our epic orchestra has achieved over the past two years.

This is a relaxed and inclusive performance for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Chosen in collaboration with the young people we work with, NOFA’s eclectic programme of music includes:

  • ‘Hornet’ and ‘Reflection’, taken from Christopher Larkin’s gripping soundtrack for popular video game, Hollow Knight, arranged for OFA by Emily Lim;
  • The ‘Allegro’ movement of Symphony No. 1 in E minor – a sonorous, lyrical work penned by American classical composer, Florence Price, arranged for OFA by Simon Tong;
  • ‘Ghost Town’, written by Jerry Dammers and made famous by British two-tone band, The Specials, played by NOFA in celebration of the Midlands and arranged by James Brady, and
  • ‘Strength in Numbers’, created in collaboration with Birmingham-based multi-instrumentalist, Joe Broughton.
    Plus, there will be a host of solo and small group performances for attendees to enjoy.
    Aged between 11 and 19, NOFA members come together from diverse backgrounds and from all corners of the country – and thanks to our charity’s inclusive, non-auditioned programme, they have been able to experience the joy of group music-making regardless of the daily barriers they might face.

The Orchestras for All team are available to discuss any queries or access needs that you might have. You can contact us via email at [email protected]. You can also find accessibility information via the FAQ section of this event page.

While this concert is free to attend, OFA welcomes any donations to our charity.

Huge thanks to our NOFA funders for making this life-changing programme possible: Arts Council England; Department of Education; Garfield Weston Foundation; Foyle Foundation; Finzi Trust; Individual donors.

Please note:

  • Doors open at 2:40pm.
