About this Event
Join us for a hands-on conservation experience as we take part in . We’ll be heading to Lakeside Campus to search for harvest mouse nests in grassy habitats, contributing valuable data to a national monitoring programme.
This is a great opportunity to learn field survey techniques, develop your ecological skills, and support real-world conservation science.
🚌 Need Transport?
Free minibus transport is available from St John’s Campus to Lakeside Campus.
Please book a Minibus ticket if you’d like a seat—spaces are limited and must be reserved in advance.
🔍 What to Expect
- Introduction to harvest mouse ecology and nest identification
- Surveying suitable habitats at Lakeside Campus
- Data collection and submission to The Mammal Society
- Fieldwork experience in a supportive group setting

- Warm, weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear
- Gloves (optional, for handling vegetation)
- Smartphone or notebook for recording sightings

- No prior experience needed—training will be provided on the day.
- The event will go ahead in light rain but may be rescheduled in severe weather.
