Chimpanzees, wolves, and gorillas are among the most charismatic of the social mammals we know—besides ourselves. They're also under threat. Join biologist-turned-photographer Ronan Donovan as he talks about the incredible similarities we humans share with other social mammals in the animal kingdom, and what we can learn from them.
The Whatcom Museum invites you to join National Geographic Explorer and acclaimed wildlife photographer Ronan Donovan at the Mount Baker Theatre. Experience his breathtaking work in "National Geographic's Greatest Wildlife Photographs," showcased in the Lightcatcher building until September 8, 2024.
Influenced by his adventurous parents, Donovan has cultivated a career marked by an insatiable curiosity for the natural world. Since dedicating himself to photography and filmmaking in 2014, he has captured the essence of Yellowstone's wolves, mountain gorillas, and the intricate dance of human-wildlife coexistence. His remarkable narratives, which have graced the platforms of PBS, the BBC, and galleries across the globe, are not just about wildlife but our shared responsibility for their conservation. With a gift for eliciting empathy and championing conservation, Donovan's artistry beckons us to witness nature's narratives. Now residing in Bozeman, Montana, he continues to explore and document the majestic Rocky Mountains.
