Event Speakers
Info: Shelvis Lee Ponds, Jr. holds a Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity School and a Master of Counseling from North Carolina Central University. He is a recipient of the Lexie Kamerman Dedication to Social Justice and Peace Award and a former participant in the Southern Leadership Social Justice cohort. Shelvis is a talented speaker and facilitator, working at the intersections of racial equity, community, and mental health.
Jeff Compton-Nelson holds a Master of Divinity and a Certificate in Gender and Sexuality from Duke Divinity School. He served as the inaugural co-chair of the Church of the Holy Family (Episcopal) Racial Equity and Land Commission. He is the co-founder and former chair of Duke University's Just Space Initiative and was nominated for Duke University’s Presidential Award for his leadership in the Just Space Initiative’s 2020-2021 Creating Antiracist Space program.
