Tuesday, September 30th, marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It has been ten years since the
Truth and Reconciliation Commission released its 94 Calls to Action—a reminder that reconciliation is an ongoing responsibility.
On this day, we honour the children who never returned home, the survivors of residential schools, and their families. Bent Arrow will be hosting a free community event, offering a space to learn, reflect, and hear the truths lived by Indigenous peoples after the formation of Canada.
This year’s theme is: A Time to Listen.
Join us as we come together for breakfast and lunch, entertainment, crafts and activities, keynote speakers, and reflections on the past and future of Indigenous Peoples on Turtle Island.
Event schedule:
8:15am Continental Breakfast
8:30am Pipe Ceremony
9:00am Land Acknowledgements
9:10am Welcoming and Opening Remarks
9:15am Inuit Throat Singers Performance
9:45am Break
10:00am Guest Speakers
10:45am Break
11:00am Guest Speakers
11:45am Closing remarks
12:00pm Singers and Dancers
12:20pm Moment of Silence

Please note that, unlike prior years, this event will not be livestreamed. If you are unable to attend, we encourage you to participate in other events happening across Edmonton and beyond.
