Join us on National Coming Out Day, October 11, for a special presentation from out San Diego Loyal soccer player and LGBTQ+ rights advocate, Collin Martin! Description

In 2018, Collin Martin made history by being the first active male professional soccer player to come out. And over the next 4 years, he has been making a living doing what he loves as his authentic self. In honor of National Coming Out Day, Collin will share his coming out journey and how being a visible and proud professional athlete has enabled him to flourish both on and off the field. Through very personal stories of self discovery, he will highlight the importance of representing the LGBTQ+ community, the impact that has on others, and the power that comes with being authentic.

About Collin Martin

Collin Martin is an American professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder for the San Diego Loyal. Collin has kitted out for teams such as D.C. United and Minnesota United FC in Major League Soccer, Richmond Kickers and Hartford Athletic in the United Soccer League and of course, San Diego Loyal. In 2018, when playing for Major League Soccer’s (MLS) Minnesota United, he became the first active openly male gay athlete in any of the big-five American sports leagues or any top-division professional men’s national football leagues.
