Joanne Lapierre has an immense amount of dance experience both socially and professionally. She started her life, born into a square-dancing family where music and movement were her backdrop. Her early years were full of square dances as well as lessons and recitals of jazz, ballet and modern dance. Joanne expanded her dance knowledge in the 90s when she learned West Coast Swing and Country Western dancing in Colorado. Joanne became a regular at local dances and competed nationally at both country and swing events. In 2000, she earned her first UCWDC World Championship as a Novice ProAm Country Classic dancer. From there, Joanne moved back to her home state of Massachusetts and took a serious interest in learning all of the ballroom dances. She competed for years in both International Standard and Latin, and American Rhythm and Ballroom. In 2009, Joanne was invited to start teaching ballroom lessons for StudioOne in Rhode Island where she still teaches today. Joanne now teaches many styles of dancing both in RI and CT, including all the ballroom and Latin styles, all 8 country competitive dances, and social dances such as Hustle, Salsa and West Coast Swing. Joanne enjoys competing with her ProAm students, with one student recently earning his own World Championship at this year's United Country Western World Dance Championships in the ProAm Male Newcomer 1 Country Classic division. Joanne is still an active couples and ProPro competitor and has earned 3 more UCWDC World Championships in the last few years. Joanne loves to social dance and as an instructor is happy to share her dance knowledge with you. Please don't be shy to ask her for a dance as either a leader or follower when you see her at a dance floor.
