Nathan Salsburg is one of his generation’s most gifted and idiosyncratic fingerstyle guitarists. Since 2011, when the first of his eight solo albums was released, he has quietly established a style marked by a depth and a complexity wholly his own, drawing on abiding interests in minimalism, rural American vernacular musics, and the work of British folk revivalists like Dick Gaughan, Dolly Collins, and Nic Jones. He’s a frequent collaborator of songwriter-singer Joan Shelley (his wife) and Chicago multi-instrumentalist James Elkington, and has contributed to recordings by Shirley Collins, Bonnie "Prince" Billy, the Weather Station, and Jake Xerxes Fussell, among others. For three decades Salsburg served as curator of the digital Alan Lomax Archive.
Dan Petrich is songwriter royalty in Pittsburgh, the man with the golden voice, thoughtful lyrics and a calming presence that, basically, improves everyone who comes into contact with him. His latest album Soundings is out now!
The Inpenetrable String Tangle are a new pop-up band of folkie diehards, comprised of regulars at our shop. Raymond and Tucker are in our employ, and Alex and Jeff have taken the stage many times themselves. They come together to present a compelling program of Brit-folk classics, from Archie Fisher to Bert Jansch to Linda Thompson, all wrapped in new, lovely arrangements!
The show - seating is extremely limited! We are offering pre-sale on 65 tickets and then will revert to standing room only on the day of the show. Doors at 7pm, music starting around 8pm. $20 guarantees a seat, though not any seat in particular! First come, first pick. This show will be BYOB. Please call us at the shop with any questions!
