Join host Nate Butler in learning about the history of cinema, and enjoy classic silent films with live piano music! Always on the 1st Saturday of every month.
This month, in honor of the upcoming Halloween, we’ll see four short films with a ‘spooky’ theme, but they’re all comedies, and suitable for children! We’ll start with the earliest version of “Frankenstein,” made by the Thomas Edison Company in 1910 (which, although not a comedy, is unintentionally comical); then we’ll see Buster Keaton in “The Haunted House,” Stan Laurel (of Laurel & Hardy) in “Dr. Pyckle and Mr. Pride” (a parody of “Dr. Jeckyll & Mr. Hyde”), and Charlie Bowers in the bizarre “There It Is!” It’ll be fun, you’ll see!
(Next month, on the day after Halloween, we’ll watch the truly spooky classsic “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.”)
