Make sure you stop by on Feb. 7th to support local artist Natalie Welborn. Natalie will be in the store from 10-4pm selling her artwork.Natalie is a local artist born and raised in the Alton Area.
They began working with paper in 2008 after being inspired by a local Illinois scherenschnitte (paper cutting) artist, Polly Winkler-Mitchell.
But it was in 2020 when they connected with inspiring paper artists through social media that they began working to master their craft.
Natalie uses paper and a scalpel blade to carve out incredibly realistic details. The time of completion can vary greatly. A piece typically takes 30-40 hours. However, a more detailed piece like her dodo bird, took 200 hours to complete!
Their art has been displayed by 8 different galleries as of today, and sold at several local events!
