Nas Abbas is a multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter based in Chapel Hill, NC. His previous musical experience includes fronting the band Lake Inferior which opened for acts such as Deerhunter and Future Islands, as well as playing shows across the east coast from the Cat’s Cradle, to the 40 Watt Club in Athens, to Pianos in NYC. He has previously performed his solo work under the moniker Field Spirit, playing at venues such as King’s in Raleigh and Phuzz Fest in Winston Salem, and has performed as a band member with NC acts XOXOK and Sengoko (formerly T0W3RS). His current music under his own name showcases stripped down rock/pop/folk songwriting, crafting emotional pieces that sometimes wind their way through irregular song structures on piano, (occasionally guitar) and vocals. His dynamic and expressive vocals are sometimes reminiscent of artists such as Damon Albarn and Bruce Springsteen, and he draws songwriting influence from them as well as many other artists including Harry Nilsson, Billy Joel, and David Bowie. After spending 6 years living in Spain and Atlanta, he has returned home to NC where he is excited to be performing live again, solo and with friends. He is currently working on recording his debut album as Nas Abbas.B
ased in Tucson, AZ, songwriter Lara Ruggles performs simmering alt-pop anthems as Sharkk Heartt. Her dynamic and versatile vocals have been compared to Florence and the Machine, Sarah McLachlan, and Duffy, with an overall sound landing somewhere between London Grammar and Sylvan Esso. She's opened a show for Grammy-winner LeAnn Rimes, joined Colorado poet laureate Andrea Gibson on their "Right Now, I love You Forever" tour, and in 2023 she spent a month as the National Parks Arts Foundation's artist-in-residence at Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park.
Sam Rae explores a unique relationship between the guitar, voice and cello bringing their classical degree in cello performance into the modern era of music. With ethereal and percussive looped cello they weave together folk infused songs with rich lyrical content inspired by Joni Mitchell and their time touring with Brandi Carlile. Sam Rae tours as a solo artist and has spent time on the road as a cellist and backup vocalist for Brandi Carlile (2015-2021) and Gregory Alan Isakov (2018). Their independent and collaborative tours have taken them to Red Rocks, Madison Square Garden all the way to the big screen performing with Brandi on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Indie Appalachian Folk music project Tina and Her Pony began in Asheville, North Carolina, USA in 2010. Shortly thereafter, she spent two years holed up in the high desert mountain town of Taos, New Mexico becoming one of the iconic artist colony’s most beloved performing acts. “Even within the world of folk, Tina Her Pony’s sound can’t be defined within a single culture or concept. What is undeniable, however, is the soul-stirring power of the music itself”. - Andria Brown, Folk All Y’all
