Come and hear about how eleven canal boats travelled from the shelter of the London canals all the way down the tidal River Thames to the River Medway, and the ten who came back. We expect this talk will be of particular interest to boaters on the Chelmer and Blackwater, because as with the Medway, the only way to other waterways by boat is via more open tidal waters, and involves greater challenges than are commonly encountered on inland waterways. The club hopes to repeat the Medway cruise in 2025.
Simon Judge has been canal boating for over 50 years, on his own boat (Scholar Gypsy) and on other people’s boats. For the past ten years or so, he has been an active member of the famous St Pancras Cruising Club. The club believes in, and are well known for, adventurous cruising.
