The Driftless Writing Center is delighted to once again join local physician Dr. Jackie Redmer in hosting a workshop series focused on Narrative Healing. The fall series theme is "Rewriting Our Inner Stories". The next session is Saturday, October 18 and will focus on curiosity.Narrative Healing is adapted from a growing field referred to as Narrative Medicine, which is an intentional process using the humanities to more deeply explore, share and understand the impact of human experiences. This practice relies on close and generous listening, storytelling and self-reflection.
In this DWC workshop series, Dr. Redmer will lead us in reading a text or examining a painting together. In the shadow of this text, we will then be invited to self-reflect using a writing exercise. By close reading and writing together, we connect with others and learn new tools for living a meaningful life.
These workshops are held at the Vernon County Museum and History Center in Viroqua, Wisconsin, and are drop-in—no pre-registration required.
