Happy June Friends!I want to thank everyone who attended our last gathering in May where we learned all about the many amazing benefits of mushrooms from Russell Hollander of Care 2 Grow Mushroom Farm in Golden Gate Estates. If you missed the potluck and meeting, you can learn all about it at Care2Grow.com.
As the temperature gets hotter here in SWFL, we will be planning to have a summer break in July and August, and our last Monthly Potluck & Meeting of the the first half of 2024 will be on Sunday June 30th 1 - 4 pm at:
Jessie's Tropical Fruit Farm
1255 Dove Tree St
Naples, FL 34117
Jessica, the owner, will be hosting our potluck and meeting, and has only about 10 chairs available, so I am asking everyone to PLEASE RSVP if you plan to attend, and please bring a portable chair, wear outdoor footwear, bring a hat and sunscreen for the Fruit Farm Tour. Jessica has let me know that the dragon fruit that she grows and sells all over the world is now in season, and we will learn all about it and have a chance to sample the different varieties. She has a farm store, so please bring some cash or cards with you if you would like to support her local business with a purchase. You can learn more about her business at www.lovetropicalfruit.com, or call at 239-682-1884.
Please go to www.westonaprice.org to learn more about the Annual Conference in Orlando this October 24-28, 2024.
I have made a reservation for a room at the Sea World Resort, and am currently looking for 2 single women who want to share a room for the conference, if you are interested, please reach out to me as soon as possible - I have a feeling that the accommodations will sell out soon!
If anyone would like to either HOST a potluck and meeting, or be a PRESENTER at an upcoming potluck and meeting, please let me know via email [email protected] as I am currently planning our events for September - December 2024!
Over the course of 2024, the Naples Chapter of WAPF email list has grown to over 250 members, and continues to grow as more people move to beautiful SWFL and are looking to improve their health through access to high quality, locally produced meats, dairy products, vegetables and grains. The current Naples (& SWFL) Chapter Resources List is under FILES on this Group Page so that you can get in touch with our local farmers, ranchers and local food co-ops directly, as well as discover local sustainability resources and a wide range of Holistic Health Professionals that can support you in creating a healthier life for yourself and your family. If you have a product or service that falls into those categories, and you'd like to be added to the Resource List, please let me know! It is an invaluable resource to use and share as we all move towards a healthier and more resilient community in SWFL.
And finally, for those that are new to the Naples Chapter of WAPF or are looking for more information:
The main goal of the Weston A. Price Foundation is to restore nutrient-dense foods to the modern population through education, research and activism, supporting traditional farming and access to whole, unprocessed ingredients. So for the potluck, we ask that members and guests bring dishes made from real, unprocessed ingredients - ingredients that are free of the multitude of refined oils, flours, sweeteners, preservatives and toxic chemicals that are endemic in our modern food supply. If you are in need of some real food culinary inspiration, visit Weston A Price Recipes or invest in their timeless resource on nutrition and real food recipes Nourishing Traditions, which you can purchase on the main website www.westonaprice.org. There is SO MUCH high quality, science-based information and research on the website, in the journals and on their podcast, that I encourage everyone to take time to visit and expand their knowledge base. I will be bringing more Timeless Principles of Healthy Diets brochures, as well as one on specific topics and copies of journals, with me to all the meetings. They are all free of charge, so be sure to check them out and take whatever information resonates with you . . you may be surprised by what you learn. Knowledge truly IS power, and the more we know, the better choices we can make for ourselves and our families.
Please let me know if you have any questions, and as always, feel free to invite family, friends and neighbors to come and join any of our upcoming gatherings based on Real Food, sustainability, regenerative farming, natural healing, and of course, community!
