About Unraveling - Peggy Orenstein decided to cope with the Covid pandemic by making a sweater from scratch. Which entailed learning to shear a sheep for its wool. The memoir has been described as a delight, brilliantly written and researched, it is an engaging exploration of that covers history, politics, and culture of the art of making clothes and the very fabric of society.
About The Bandit Queens - The New York Times describes Parini Shroff’s debut novel as “a radically feel-good story about the M**der of no-good husbands by a cast of unsinkable women, a tale that demonstrates how the antidote to bleak circumstances is female friendship”.
About A Dangerous Business - Jane Smiley found her inspiration in Edgar Allan Poe’s The Murders in the Rue Morgue. Pico Iyer says about this mystery set during the California Gold Rush, “She turns literary and stylistic cartwheels … Is there anything Jane Smiley cannot do?”
About The Waiting World - Andria Williams’s second novel is a compelling story of love and war. Not only expertly researched and beautifully written, but also an intimate meditation on class, race, and the American dream … lyrical as Fitzgerald and as feisty as Whitman … a triumph of the imagination and a riveting read.
