About this Event

What's better than one local author at an indie bookstore? Two! On Wednesday, February 12, Nancy Johnson and Sonali Dev will discuss their latest novels, and . This event will be a lively discussion about craft and process, by the authors of two gems of fiction that sparkle in different ways.

From USA Today bestselling author Sonali Dev comes There's Something About Mira, the heartfelt story of a woman learning to write her own happy ending. Determined to reunite a lost ring with its owner, Mira, a put-together and happily engaged young professional, reluctantly joins forces with a brooding journalist. As the two must work together to track down the ring's owner, Mira wonders if her path might not be as set as she thought.

Written by the acclaimed author of , Nancy Johnson's People of Means is a propulsive novel about a mother and daughter each seeking justice and following their dreams during moments of social reckoning—1960s Nashville and 1992 Chicago. Insightful, evocative, and richly imagined with stories of hidden history, this novel is an emotional tour de force that offers a glimpse into the quest for racial equality, the pursuit of personal and communal success, and the power of love and family ties.

A native of Chicago’s South Side, Nancy Johnson worked for over a decade as an Emmy-nominated, award-winning television journalist at CBS and ABC affiliates nationwide. Her first book, The Kindest Lie, was a Book of the Month Club selection and a Target Book Club pick. A graduate of Northwestern University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she lives in Chicago.

USA Today bestselling author Sonali Dev writes Bollywood-style love stories, which have been named Best Books of the Year by Library Journal, NPR, and others. She has won numerous accolades, including the American Library Association’s award for Best Romance. She lives in Chicagoland.
