Speaker Biography
Jeff Ewelt is a seasoned zoological leader and conservation advocate, currently serving as Chief Zoological Officer at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium. Prior to this role, he spent 14 years as Executive Director of ZooMontana, where he guided the Zoo through a remarkable transformation, regaining AZA accreditation, spearheading capital improvements, and strengthening community ties. Known affectionately as “Jeff The Nature Guy,” he has shared his passion for wildlife on numerous media platforms, backed by decades of experience in animal care and zoo operations. Widely recognized for his hands-on leadership and ability to rally support for conservation, Ewelt is excited to bring his energy and vision to Omaha as he helps advance the nation’s best zoo into the future.
