Four people attempt to play very fast, tightly composed metal using bass, drums, synth and guitar. For reasons that remain unclear, free jazz keeps getting involved.
NAKM is Kellen Mills (bass/composition), Nasim Navarro (drums/composition), Marta Warelis (synth) and Alberto Cavenati (guitar).
The music is dense, rhythmic and very composed — until it isn't. Things accelerate, stop, fall apart, become noise, turn into improvisation and somehow find their way back into the piece. Mills and Navarro write the material; Warelis and Cavenati help determine what happens to it.
All four musicians have backgrounds somewhere in the large and poorly supervised territory between jazz, improvised music, experimental music and composition. NAKM puts that experience to work on music that has more in common with technical metal than would probably be advisable.
This is NAKM's second concert, so everything is going according to plan.
