NAKBA AND HOLOCAUST AS CULTURAL TRAUMAS
Schedule
Thu Apr 30 2026 at 06:00 pm to 07:30 pm
UTC+02:00Location
Universitetsplassen, Karl Johan | Oslo, OS
In this lecture, Nadim Khoury will explore how these traumas have shaped Israeli and Palestinian national narratives and how they have functioned as competing cultural traumas.
He will trace their trajectories since 1948 and explore how they are intertwined and how the tensions between them are shaping the path forward in Israeli and Palestinian lives.
What meaning, he asks, does the entanglement of the Holocaust and the Nakba gain in the shadow of October 7 and the war on Gaza?
Nadim Khoury is an Associate Professor at the Department of Law, Philosophy, and International Studies, University of Inland Norway. He teaches courses in the history of political thought and international relations.
Arrangementet er en del av serien I skyggen av krigen - veien videre, som er et samarbeid mellom HL-senteret og Universitetet i Oslo.
