Nairobi Language Mix - 20 Apr 2024

Karibu! Welcome to the Nairobi language mix event!

This non-for-profit event is intended to attract language learners in Nairobi to gather, meet each other, and build a social network. Language mix (or language exchange) is a "match making" event for you to find speakers of the language you are learning, so that you can learn and practice with them. And in return, you can also help people who are learning the language you speak. So the more diverse the group the better!

At here you may find people who are:

- native speakers of the language you are learning;

- learning the same language as you are;

- learning a language that you speak;

- interested in learning a new language;

- interested in different cultures.

No matter where you are from or what language(s) you speak, you are welcome to join our event!

We currently have speakers/learners of English, Swahili, French, German, Chinese Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, Hindi, Hungarian, Spanish, Esperanto, Hebrew, Greek, Icelandic, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Czech, Estonian, Korean, and adding more!

This event will be on 20 Apr 2024 (Sat) 16:00 - 18:00 at Traventure cafe, Gigiri, Nairobi.

Please pass through the building till you see the organizers at the outdoor area of the café with a printed sign you see above on the table.

In order to support the logistics for the event and keep it going, the organizers will charge a small amount of entrance fee upon your arrival. Entrance fee for the event: 200 KES (cash or M-Pesa).

Ground rules:

- There might not be enough seats if you come late so plan in advance;

- Please order something to drink or to eat in order to show appreciation to the venue. Some staff of the cafe have hearing impairments so please be patient and respectful;

- The participants are expected to have good social etiquette and respect others;

- Do not give your personal information to others if you don’t want to;

- Although the topics during the meet up are for the participants to decide, please try to avoid sensitive or taboo topics;

- The official event will end around 18:00, but you can feel free to stay longer.
