WIFS Houston member Darlene Flagg will discuss “Hiring and Mentoring Next-Gen Advisors”, and NAIFA Houston member Mariana Ruiz Posada will discuss “Serving Multi-Generational Families and Engaging Rising Gen-Heirs”.
Darlene Flagg is a Vice President and Head of Retirement at National Life Group leading their institutional sales division for retirement plans creating and managing institutional marketing strategies for 403(b), 457, 401(a), and 3121 plans. Darlene has over 20 years of senior management experience and 27 years of financial services and marketing experience. Darlene has also served as Chief Marketing Officer and Head of Annuity Marketing at National Life. She previously served on the Women in Insurance and Financial Services (WIFS) National Board as President, partnering to attract, develop, and advance women in financial services—Dallas and Houston Chapters. In October 2024, Darlene was named WIFS’ Woman of the Year. She is also a Past President of the National Tax-Deferred Savings Association (NTSA). Additionally, for six years, she served as an adjunct professor for the University of Phoenix, Houston Campuses.
Darlene received her Bachelor's (BA) degree in Communications from Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ, and a Master’s (MA) degree in Strategic Communications from the same institution.
Mariana Ruiz Posada is the President of Dueanna Wealth Associates, and she is a Certified Family Business Specialist through the American College. As a leader in the Latinx community, she manages her practice of servicing clients to help them meet their financial goals and needs. For more than 25 years in the financial services industry, she has been a passionate advocate for helping the Latinx Community increase their financial literacy, specifically in the area of proper estate planning for the financial stability of their families and their businesses. Her focus is on holistic planning for professionals and business owners. She has presented and serviced a wide range of industries, to empower the community by providing tools for improving its fiscal fitness. Her most recent accomplishments include qualifications to Top of the Council with Mass Mutual, MDRT and agent of the year for Mass Mutual Greater Houston in 2014. She was born in Medellin, Colombia and then migrated to New York at the age of 13, has first-hand knowledge of what it is like to be truly bicultural. Happily married since 1992 and is the mother of two young professionals, Mariana strives to balance a career of excellence, community involvement, and family life.
Mariana holds a Bachelor’s (BA) degree in Economics from the City University of New York at Queens College.
