About this Event
The NAACP Garland Unit's Freedom Fund Brunch and Silent Auction is our annual fundraiser hosted to raise funds for all yearly programs, scholarships and monthly expenses. We invite your support of our community focused events.
Amy Rosenthal, Cultural Arts Director for the City of Garland, received the 2025 NAACP Garland Unit's Bridge Builder's Award. She heads the team that manages three facilities including the Granville Arts Center, Plaza Theatre and the Atrium. The three venues welcomes over 100,000 guests annually for live performances, special events and exhibits.
La'Darrion Keith Swanson, educator in the Garland ISD, is a mentor, community leader and creative visionary with over twenty five years of service in public education and youth development. He serves as a campus liaison for the NAACP ACT-SO competition held annually, and he is the founder of the nationally recognized Theta Nu Sigma Competitive Step Program.
Sharonda Green received the 2025 NAACP Garland Entreprenuer Award for launching Linson Eye Investigation here in Garland, in 2021. It is an investigation and protection firm serving North Texas with integrity and excellence. She owns Lei Community Outreach, a nonprofit that pertners with Dallas College to provide back-to-school resources for local families, demostrating her love for educational growth in youth and for community uplift.
The Garland Parks Department received the 2025 NAACP Garland Volunteer Service Award for their creative designs of the grand marshal floats for Garland's annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade and March events held in January of each year.
