We are very proud to present You:The very first medieval belly dance summer camp organised by Müstika Studio! 6-9. July 2023 in Tallinn, Estonia
This summercamp is suitable for dancers of all styles: oriental, fusion and fcbd style dancers! :)
For four days, the Town Hall Square and the surroundings in Tallinn Old Town will become a flourishing Hanseatic city. The heart of the Medieval Days is the Medieval Market on the Town Hall Square, where cheerful concerts, performances, and medieval entertainment are offered to the townspeople on all four days. For over 10 years Müstika Studio dancers have been performing there and we would like you all to join us!

?PROGRAM?
? 6.07 THURSDAY
10.00-12.00 Kaisa Kuhi - Tribal style skirt dance (all levels, FCBD style basics recommended) Come and learn this beautiful choreography where the main element is our beautiful skirt. A full circle skirt is needed.
30 min break
12.30-14.30 Tambourine dance with Berit on a beautiful medieval inspired music. (intermediate level, bellydance or FCBD style basics needed) Dance to the tides of the moon, to the stars and the sun!
30 min break
15.00 set up, makeup, costume
16.45 we leave the studio
17.30 Participation in the Medieval parade in Old Town - in costumes, with tambourines and zills
18.30 back to studio, snacktime
19.30-21.30 Musicality Workshop and basic arabic rhythms - Chronis Taxidis - first we will go through the main rhythms, then Chronis will show us how to play your instruments on top of music. We will finish with some nice jamming with frame drums in the studio. Please let us know in your registration,which kind of instrument you have. Chronis will bring req, sonbati, sagat. We also have frame drums and tambourines and darbukas.
*will bring 4 pairs of prof. sagat to sell! ;)
? 7.07 FRIDAY
10.00 - 12.00 Laura Luna - An earthy choreography to "Ismaouni" using the folkier side of Datura Style vocabulary. Come dance together and learn Rachel Brice’s beautiful fusion bellydance format! Previous experience in Datura Style will give you an advantage, but all Tribal Fusion dancers are warmly welcomed!
Intermediate/Advanced
12.30-14.30 Workshop with Chronis Taxidis - How to dance live drum solo
- All levels. This workshop is really necessary for our live street performance project,as we will not be repeating our choreographies that we performed on the stage but we shall be dancing freely with the sound of our drums, tambourines and finger cymbals led by our drummer Chronis Taxidis. This workshop is paired with the musicality and arabic rhythms workshop, as knowledge of arabic rhythms is necessary to be able to differentiate rhythms while dancing.
Lunch Break 1h
15.30 -17.30 Tribal Fusion belly dance drum solo - on live music!!! With Chronis Taxidis and Nadezda Maeki - come and learn a group choreography on a drum solo played live by our drummer Chronis Taxidis. Intermediate/advanced
17.30-21.30 Rehearsals of all stage projects 4h for 4 choreographies, 1h each. If needed, then more.
? 8.07 SATURDAY - SHOWTIME!
(*Saturday’s time schedule can change a little bit due to the organisers of medieval Festival)
10.00-13.00 rehearsals for the show 3h
13.00-15.00 PREPARATION, MAKEUP, COSTUME
15.00-15.30 going to the show through the town, don't forget your dupatta :)
16.00 -18.00 SHOW + PHOTOSHOOT in old town + LIVE STREET PERFORMANCE VIDEOSHOOT - IMPOROVISATION WITH LIVE MUSIC! ;)
After that we go back to hotel/studio to relax and change clothes
20.00 A real medieval feast (dinner) in authentic medieval restaurant Olde Hansa in the Old Town (only with pre-registration!). If possible, wear a long skirt. :)
?9. 07 SUNDAY
11.00 FAREWELL morning brunch or picnic to get together one more time and say our goodbyes with new friends ❤️

NB! Spots to every choreography staging project are limited as the stage is quite small.
NB! You can also learn choreographies without performing them, but in this case, please let us know beforehand. Because the spots to perform are limited as the stage is quite small. That means, choosing to learn a choreography does not force you to perform with the group, if you feel insecure or you choose to learn choreo for your own personal use. :)
About costuming:
You will need to bring your own costume. You will need only 1 main costume, only some details can change depending on the choreography. Main parts will be: pantaloons, skirt, coin bra, coin belt, hip scarf, vest. You will need “Ballerina” shoes for walking in the old town, but can be changed into dance shoes for stage. Please bring a warmer veil, dupata or poncho to cover yourself while walking through the old town. Overall look is old style and or tribal belly dance. There is no separate backstage in old town, so we will already go dressed up through the town :) Please bring a folkloric or old looking bag for your personal items, water bottle etc. Some costuming parts can be rented as well. Please write to us in advance if you are missing some elements and need to rent or buy something. We will also make FB group and we will help you with costuming details :)
