About this Event

I gcomhar le IMRAM.

Ina cuid scéalta pléann Réaltán Ni Leannáin teamaí casta an ghrá, briseadh croí agus díoltas, soineantacht na hóige agus briseadh na soineantachta céanna. Scríbhneoir ina bhfuil féith an ghrinn go smior ann é Seán Ó Cadhain, rud a léiríonn sé ina chéad chnuasach gearrscéalta Fanacht Fada. ‘Bíonn an t-aorachas, an greann agus an scigmhagadh measctha le chéile aige sna scéalta agus an t-údar ag séideadh go caoin is go mín ach go héifeachtach faoin gcur i gcéill agus faoin gcamastaíl atá neadaithe i sochaí agus i gcultúr na tíre ina marimid’, a dúirt Mícheal Ó Ruairc faoi. Ag scríobh faoi Ré na bhFathach le Colm Ó Ceallacháin san iris Books Ireland, dúirt Cathal Poirtéir: ‘Ta na scéalta uilig scríofa ar bhealach dochreidte maith: comhrá idir daoine a bhraitheann tú a bheith fíor agus réalaíoch…tá sé dochreidte gur éirigh leis an údar an saol a chur bunoscionn agus droim ar ais agus an saol mór iontach comhaimseartha Eorpach a chuir romhainn i nGaeilge’.

Réaltán Ní Leannáin is the author of the short story collection Inní, praised by Books Ireland for its ‘human and believable characters living in a palpable world’. Seán Ó Cadháin writes finely honed fiction replete with satires of modern life. In Ré na bhFathach, Colm Ó Ceallacháin explores themes of personal tragedy and sexual awakening in finely written stories that exhibit both light and shade.
