Stroll through Evergreen Cemetery and meet residents from the past as we return to the older of Painesville’s two burial grounds. The site has a rich history dating back to 1859 when the Village of Painesville began to buy land to create a final resting place for local families. The cemetery was established on 24 acres of land on the corner of Casement Avenue and Main Street. We will stroll among the tombstones, and all new "residents" will be there to greet us. Interact with the dearly departed who will come back for one day to tell their stories. As you go from grave to grave, your guide will fill you in on old wives' tales and legends surrounding cemeteries. These stories and more will enlighten and entertain.Tour times are 5:15pm, 5:45pm. and 6:15pm*, and last about 80 minutes. (*Special dusk tour, which is not for the faint of heart.)
All tours set out promptly from Evergreen Cemetery. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled tour time.
