An Audio Visual Extravaganza Unlike Anything Calgary Has Seen
The Mystic Moonlight Masquerade Gala Ball is not your standard charity gala. It is a deconstructed, immersive celebration. Part cabaret, part opera house, part rock concert, part black tie dinner.
This is the celebration event of the Mystic Moonlight Masquerade Campaign, a collaborative private fundraising initiative raising money for 10 charitable organizations supporting marginalized communities across Calgary and beyond. 100% of net proceeds go directly to those organizations. Every individual ticket you purchase sends $50 and every table sends $500 to your perferred beneficiary choice that the campaign is supporting, and an additional share of the net proceeds.

The Night Begins the Moment You Arrive
Pull up and you are already in the show. Sentinels with torches light the way and guard the entrance. Live entertainment fills the entrance areas. Step through the doors and paparazzi, photographers, and roving interviewers are waiting. You are announced as you enter the room. Because here, everyone belongs.
What to Expect Inside
• Opera, singing, dance, live musicians, and surprise performances from 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM
• Family style plated dinner. multiple meats, several starches, salad options, vegetables, dessert buffet. Gluten free and Halal throughout, with Vegetarian and vegan options included.
• Welcome cocktail or mocktail upon arrival. Wine served with dinner.
• Community Advocacy Award honouring outstanding a local changemaker
• Live and silent auction items (card and cash accepted)
• Immersive, themed photo booths. Not your ordinary step and repeat.
• DJ afterparty from 9:30 PM to 1:00 AM
• Sensory friendly spaces. Fully wheelchair accessible.
This Year’s Theme: Silk Roads, A Multicultural Rococo Journey
This year’s Gala Ball fuses multicultural artistry through a Rococo lens. Think rich fabrics, jewel toned spice colours, and interpretations of global fashion traditions from South Asia, Spain, Indigenous culture, and beyond. The music, food, florals, and performances are all built around it.
Dress the Part. Or Don’t. Just Be You.
Wear what makes you feel your most magnificent self. Past guests have arrived in Rococo inpired Veneitian outfits, elegant ball gowns, elaborate Venetian carnival masks, cosplay, evening wear, and everything in between. There is no wrong answer.
Why This Event Exists
Founded by Lynea Vaugeois Hetherington, a humanitarian, and a Mom of almost 50, and advocate who got tired of watching the same underfunded, siloed problems repeat. She built this campaign to connect ten intersectional causes at once, and use the arts to make people actually show up for them.
Last year, a multimillionaire and a community draw winner sat at the same table, laughed together, and left as friends. No one knew who was who, and that was the whole point.
This event is unapologetically authentic. It is not boring. It is not pretentious. It is not for just one kind of person. It is for anyone who has ever sat on the fringes and still hasn’t found where they fit. Come find out.
