At the start of the new millennium, published local poet, travel writer, and novelist Geraldine Ann Ford spent 22 months living on La Gomera, an unspoilt, small, craggy volcanic island in the Spanish Canaries situated off the regular tourist track.Her stay formed the basis for a five-star rated Amazon book 'When the Spirit Moves You'
'When I arrived in Valle Gran Rey, there were two six hundred-foot cliffs on either side, the sinuous road plunged, and villages looked minute at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. I met some interesting characters and relate their stories, which will make you smile or bring tears to your eyes. I have tried to capture the magic of this stunning island with sights, sounds and smells, enabling the reader to be transported to La Gomera from the comfort of their armchair'
Gel's illustrated talk,based on the book, starts at 7.45 pm. It's free entry to the premises for OLC members & £1 to non-members who need to pay at the bar & sign in as guests.
Additionally, there'll be a hat collection in cash for the speaker, with a suggested minimum of £5. Signed copies of the book will be on sale.
The CAMRA award-winning bar will be open from 6.15 p.m. It accepts CARD payments only.
