My Favorite Year: The Year Comedy Got Cool!

It's 1967 New York in the age of live television, and an aging silver screen legend is slated to appear on the top-rated late night sketch comedy show, the King Kiser Comedy Hour. A young writer (based on the life of Mel Brooks) is tasked with keeping her sober and on script for the broadcast, while comedy writer veterans navigate the tumultuous changes in American society during the burgeoning era of rock and roll, Vietnam, feminism and the youth revolution.

Since its founding in 2010, the Picnic Theatre Company's brand of site-specific party theatre has been called one of the "culture party hybrids taking Washington by storm" by the Washington Post. According to the Financial Times, “The Picnic Theatre Company’s bipartisan players…spend their days running the country and their evenings running the show.” Picnic Theatre audience goers enjoy one-act cocktail and garden party performances of classic plays in beautiful and exciting historic venues, gardens and Embassies. If you have not entered the names of your plus ones, you can still edit your ticket directly on Eventbrite on your computer.

- There will be no on-site parking. Limited street parking available on Reservoir Road. We encourage you to use taxi, ridesharing or public transportation.

- Please be advised that for security reasons, Embassy staff and security services cannot allow large bags, umbrellas or backpacks, or bike helmets to be brought onto Embassy grounds. The security team reserves itself the right to confiscate any items not appropriate
