MVTANT

“This is low culture, this is forever. The weak are god fearing and sinning is living.” MVTANT was conceived as a cassette tape industrial project: motorik lines pulse out of analog synthesizers, dreamy primitive digital workstations wash over the top, vhs samples of chains and screams are evoked from 12-bit machines, and then recorded to ree-to-reel and dumped to mono cassettes. In addition to classic post-punk, industrial and ebm artists, MVTANT is heavily influenced by horror and science fiction films, anime, literature, and graphic novels. The sound is both familiar and new, cacophonous and melodic, uncomfortable and pleasurable, like violent colors that a dingy vcr head spews in scanlines across a tube tv, painful to stare at, but astonishingly vivid and captivating.

LUNACY

Pennsylvania’s dark shadow figure, Lunacy, has been releasing music in small batches since 2016. After 4 EP’s and a compilation LP, the time for a debut album has come, the “Age of Truth” is upon us.

With such a broad span of music in such a short amount of time, Lunacy has been working on crafting a sound that people can identify with - equal parts lush noise and undertones of melody. Blurring the lines in between genres, exploring the realms of noise music with a reminiscent shoegaze feel to it and a psychedelic effect on the listener.

IRON YEARS

What started as a synth pop, new wave project has now morphed into a 4 to the floor hybrid house meets darkwave post punk project. Given the bands background this is an inevitable transition. Born and raised in Chicago’s southwest Little Village neighborhood, these guys grew up heavy drenched into all things house, freestyle and new wave. They come from an era where DJs ruled supreme in neighborhoods across Chicago, and those beats gleam through their entire set. Somewhere between WBMX & 120 minutes, Iron Years carves out their own space. 2021 has seen them release a limited run 7” lathe on Pittsburgh’s Play Alone Records and a debut LP recorded just before the COVID 2020 shut down is set to be released by 2022.

Beginning Monday, August 9
